EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The UTEP men’s basketball team is living to fight another day at the Conference USA tournament in Huntsville, Alabama.
UTEP, seeded No. 8, defeated No. 9 Sam Houston 79-65 on Tuesday, March 11 in the opening round of the tournament.
The Miners, 18-14 overall, had been on a seven-game losing streak headed into the CUSA tourney.
Corey Camper Jr. led four Miners in double-figures with 18 points. Kevin Kalu had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, including 8 offensive boards. Otis Frazier III and Devon Barnes both had 12 points.
The Miners will face No. 1 Liberty at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the next round of the tournament.
