EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Venezuelan national was arrested and charged in a stabbing in far East El Paso on Saturday, April 13, that started off as a domestic dispute, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy assigned to University Medical Center was notified by hospital staff about a possible aggravated assault.
Deputies then met with the victim’s brother who told the investigating officers that the victim had been stabbed at their residence along the 13000 block of Bachimba Dr. in far East El Paso.
Deputies said that through further investigation they learned that the suspect, who was only identified as a Venezuelan national, and his wife were involved in a domestic assault when the victim tried to intervene.
During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was taken into custody and placed under arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault/family violence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
No details were released about how badly injured the victim was.
