EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 21-year-old wanted fugitive was arrested this week and is facing multiple felony charges, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
Abraham Alvarado, 21, was arrested on Thurday, Oct. 9.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Alvarado was wanted in connection with a fatal incident over Easter weekend that left a man dead after he was struck by a vehicle in the aftermath of a fight.
Alvarado was wanted on charges including collision involving death, aggravated assault with a
deadly weapon, and collision involving injury.
Deputies apprehended him at the 11600 block of Valle Hermoso Drive in El Paso County. He was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a total bond of $300,000.
Alvarado was originally arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the death of 18-year-old Leonel Monarrez. Alvarado was accused of running over Monarrez with a vehicle in the aftermath of a fight.
The Sheriff’s Office said he was not indicted on the original charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was recently indicted on lesser charges, the Sheriff’s Office said.
