KTSM News – Water outage planned for part of Las Cruces

Posted on March 30, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of Las Cruces is planning a water outage for the Stern Drive Waterline Extension Project.

Homes in the area of 2900 Broadmoor Drive may experience a water outage between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2.

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, a door hanger notice will be posted a minimum of 24 hours in advance, the City of Las Cruces said.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits, the City of Las Cruces said.

Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all cold-water faucets for five minutes.

If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities Dispatch at (575) 526-0500 for assistance.

For information, call (575) 528-3689. The TTY number is (575) 528-3541.
