EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County will break ground on $11.5 million in projects that will provide “first-time water and wastewater services” to part of Northwest El Paso County.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 in a lot next to 118 Roosevelt in Canutillo.
Six projects will “deliver essential first-time water and wastewater services to nearly 400 homes, improving public health and the quality of life for residents,” the County said in a news release.
The projects include:
• Nu-Way Addition, Mayfair, Wiloughby Road and Laura E. Mundy Survey No. 237 Subdivisions (Wastewater) – This project will provide approximately 342 new wastewater connections. The work involves the installation of approximately 21,890 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer pipe, 1,450 linear feet of 12-inch sanitary sewer pipe, 47 48-inch sanitary sewer manholes, and 10 48-inch sanitary sewer manholes with Triplex Liner. The estimated construction cost is $10.1 million.
• Laura E. Mundy Survey No. 237 and Serene Acres Subdivision (Water) – This project will provide approximately 48 connections. The work includes the installation of approximately 3,850 linear feet of 8-inch PVC water pipe and 2,150 linear feet of 8-inch Ductile Iron water pipe. The estimated construction cost is about $1.49 million.
“These infrastructure improvements are part of the County’s ongoing commitment to driving sustainable development and addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps in underserved areas,” the County said in its news release.
