KTSM News – Weather Authority Alert: Blowing dust, threat of heavy rain in next 18 hours — Your 9-Day Forecast

Posted on November 3, 2024

Monday morning will feel like a winter morning with chilly gusts, rain showers, and even blowing dust as a powerful low-pressure system comes through. Prepare for a big drop in temperatures that will feel much colder when you factor in the winds. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico. Above 7,000 feet, they could see 1 to 3 inches of snow. Yes, SNOW! (We thought cool weather would never come.)

TONIGHT:  KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to strong winds, blowing dust, and the threat of brief, heavy rainfall.  The west-SW winds will range from 15-40 mph with the strongest gusts on the eastern slopes of the mountains.  The winds will be quite chilly overnight as the low drops down to 51.

FORECAST:  Monday will start out with clouds, rain, gusty winds, and blowing dust.  The W-SW winds will range from 15-40 mph with stronger gusts on the east slopes.  With a high of 62, expect the skies to start to clear up by the afternoon.  By Monday evening, the winds will start to die down as well.  Tuesday will be sunny and much more pleasant with lighter winds.  The SW winds will range from 10-25 mph, and the high will be 69.  Wednesday will be mostly sunny and windy with a high of 75.  The SW winds will gust to near 40 mph by late evening. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy with moderate winds and a high of 67.  Friday will be sunny and cooler with lighter winds and a high of 64.
