KTSM News – Westside Natatorium to temporarily close to upgrade indoor lighting system

Posted on August 24, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Westside Natatorium, 650 Wallenberg Dr, will be closed starting Aug. 26 to Sept. 6 for maintenance upgrades, the City of El Paso announced in a news release.

The City said the closure is necessary to allow work crews to safely replace the lighting system inside the facility, including the installation of 76 overhead light fixtures.

The closure is expected to last two weeks, and the work schedule may be modified to accommodate any unforeseen conditions or events, according to the City.

The City said the work will also improve the swimming pool environment for users through the installation of new lighting.

“The improvements are part of the Parks Recreation and Parks ongoing efforts to provide quality facilities for the community and enhance the quality of life for businesses, residents and visitors,” read the news release.

While the Westside Natatorium is closed, the community can use the nearby Pat O’Rourke Aquatic Center at 901 N. Virginia, the Memorial Aquatic Center at 3251 Copper or of the other City operated Aquatic Centers.

A list of indoor aquatic facilities is posted on the Parks and Recreation Department website www.ElPasoTexas.gov/parks.
