EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A vehicle crash in Westway led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man on multiple charges, including DWI, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer, according to the news release by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, Sept. 29, deputies were dispatched to the 7700 block of De Alva Drive regarding a vehicle crash.
When deputies arrived, witnesses said the suspect, later identified as Isaiah Gomez, 23, had fled the scene by jumping a wall and running into a nearby desert area. Deputies immediately began searching for Gomez and began a foot pursuit after locating him, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies made contact with Gomez, he refused to comply with commands and became combative as deputies attempted to take him into custody.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, during the struggle, Gomez “struck, kicked and spat at deputies before being detained.”
Gomez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the following six charges:
- Driving while intoxicated, with a $3,500 bond
- Resisting arrest, search or transport, with a $2,000 bond
- Evading arrest or detention, with a $2,000 bond
- Two counts of harassment of a public servant, with a $5,000 bond each
- Assault on a peace officer or judge, with a $10,000 bond
