KTSM News – Windy (no dust) Wednesday, weekend storms — Your 9-Day Forecast

Posted on April 29, 2025

It was a pretty nice day today. Did you notice the difference between the dusty haze Monday evening vs. a fairly clear evening tonight? The peak gusts were similar: 39 mph on Monday vs. 35 mph today. So why less of a dusty haze? The upper level winds have diminished in strength, and that’s why we were less dusty today. We’ll be even better tomorrow. Here’s your exclusive 9-Hour Forecast for Wednesday:

TONIGHT:  The skies will be clear with a very slight dusty haze early in the evening.  The W winds will range from 10-35 mph with the strongest gusts on the east slopes of the mountains.  Winds will diminish late evening, and the low will drop to 56.

FORECAST:   Wednesday will be sunny and moderately windy with gusts near 30 mph (no dust).  Wednesday’s high: 81.  Thursday will be sunny and beautiful with light winds and a high of 87.  The SW wind will range from 5-15 mph.  Friday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy in the afternoon.  We’ll have a slight chance of isolated area t-storms (non-severe).  Friday’s high: 86.  Elevated humidity increases in the Borderland early on Saturday.  Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers and t-storms.  Saturday’s high: 83.  Sunday will be sunny and hot with a high of 90.  The SW winds will pick up in the afternoon and gust near 45 mph.  This will stir up a dusty haze by late afternoon.  Monday will be a terrible weather day with a near brown-out from dust in the afternoon.  Strong winds will gust near 60 mph.  Monday’s high: 89.
