KTSM News – Woman arrested for 3rd time on credit card abuse in El Paso

Posted on October 10, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) —A 40-year-old woman from Las Cruces has been arrested for the third time for credit card abuse in El Paso on Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to the El Paso County Constable’s Office Precinct Four.

Jennifer Munoz Bird, 40, was arrested on Oct. 9 and taken into custody with a total of 11 charges of credit card or debit card abuse with bonds totaling $24,500, according to the Constable’s Office.

In July, deputies received a complaint related to theft and unauthorized use of credit cards.

The initial victim discovered several unauthorized charges to a credit card and discovered that the credit card was missing from her purse, according to the Constable’s Office.

Through an investigation, deputies were able to obtain video surveillance evidence of Bird using the credit card at several local businesses to make several purchases throughout El Paso, according to the Constable’s Office.

According to the Constable’s Office, while the initial investigation was ongoing, another victim came forward and stated that someone stole her credit card and made several unauthorized charges without her consent.

It was revealed that both victims were co-workers of Bird’s and had stolen both credit cards while working, according to the Constable’s Office.

Two arrest warrants were made for Bird and deputies arrested her on Monday, Aug. 5.

Bird was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with bonds totaling $10,000 that she bailed out.

Deputies located Bird at her job in Central El Paso and arrested her for a second time on Sept. 5, according to the Constable’s Office.

Bird was once again booked into the detention facility with bonds totaling $7,000 that she bailed out again.

“It was discovered that the El Paso Police Department had an additional complaint against Ms. Bird from a different victim and had obtained an additional warrant of arrest for the offense of credit card/debit card abuse with a $5,000 bond,” read the news release regarding before Bird was allowed to bond out of the county jail for the third time.

“Additional victims may be unaware they have been victimized by Ms. Bird,” the Constable’s Office said.

In addition to the victims in El Paso, the Constable’s Office said Bird has allegedly victimized other people and faced similar charges in Doña Ana County.
