EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 27-year-old woman is dead following a stabbing early Sunday morning, Jan. 5 at a home in East El Paso County near Horizon City and a 30-year-old man has been arrested, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The stabbing happened at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday along the 600 block of Zinc Place.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman who had been “severely stabbed,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office did not identify the woman, except by age.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, they identified the suspect as Jorge Albert Chavez, 30, who was seen leaving the residence shortly after the incident.
With assistance from the Texas Rangers and the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement was able to locate Chavez, who traveling on Interstate 20.
Chavez was apprehended and taken into custody without incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The incident is still being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
