EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso woman has died after she was ejected during a rollover crash earlier this month in Northeast El Paso, and El Paso Police are saying alcohol was a contributing factor.
Police say they responded just before 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the 6200 block of Railroad Drive in reference to a single-vehicle crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Aurora Rey, 55, was traveling northbound on Railroad Drive in a van with a 61-year-old woman in the passenger seat.
Police say the van veered to the right, went off the road, lost control, and rolled over. Both women were not wearing their seatbelts and were both ejected from the crash.
Both Rey and the passenger were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. On Feb. 21, Rey died as a result of her injuries, police said.
Police say alcohol is a contributing factor in this crash. This is the sixth traffic fatality of 2025 compared to eight at the same time last year.
