EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A woman, who police said was approximately in her 50s, is dead following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash Tuesday evening, May 28 in El Paso’s Upper Valley, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).
EPPD said that they received a call at 9:58 p.m. regarding a person lying on the ground along the 6400 block of Doniphan Drive at Borderland Road.
When officers arrived, they located a woman approximately in her 50s who had been struck by an unknown vehicle, according to EPPD.
Preliminary information is the woman was attempting to cross Doniphan from east to west at the intersection of Borderland with a “do not walk” signal, according to EPPD.
EPPD said that as the woman was crossing, an unknown vehicle traveling northbound on Doniphan struck her and continued on Doniphan.
The woman died at the scene, according to EPPD.
EPPD said the contributing factor in this crash is the pedestrian crossing against a “no walking” signal and failing to yield to a motor vehicle.
Investigators know possible witnesses were at the Circle K located at the intersection of Borderland and Doniphan at the time of the crash.
