EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A woman who was working at a store earlier this month in West El Paso was seriously injured after she was stabbed by another woman, according to an incident report from the El Paso Police Department.

According to the incident report, a couple of witnesses in the area noticed the victim run out of the Dollar Mart store while being chased by Perez, who had a large kitchen knife in her hand.

The witnesses told police that they saw Perez laughing while chasing the victim outside of the store and once Perez made eye contact with one of the witnesses, she went back inside the Dollar Mart, according to the report. The witnesses then called police for assistance.

The report says the victim ran into the O’Reilly Auto Parts store located on the same block and told an employee that she was being chased.

The report says the victim was covered in blood and she was moved to the back of the store.

Once officers arrived, they were notified by a witness that Perez was inside the Dollar Mart.

Officers entered the store and noticed Perez was facing the counter and looking at the back wall and there was blood on the floor, according to the report.

The report says that Perez got down on the floor after being instructed by police. Perez was asked by one of the responding officers what had happened, to which she replied, “Something snapped. I work here,” and then she laughed.

It does not appear that Perez was an employee at the store.

Perez was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $120,000 cash or surety bond the following day.
