EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The family of Dalia Olivas, the woman who was killed by an alleged drunk driver last week along with her partner, spoke out on Friday, Nov. 8, talking about who Olivas was and the consequences that can result from drinking and driving.
As we have previously reported, Juan Francisco Del Valle, 23, assigned to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk on Nov. 2 and crashing into a vehicle, killing both Rick Ballard, 29, and Dalia Olivas, 28.
Olivas’ brother-in-law, Juan Villalobos, thanked the community for donating to their GoFundMe account and also thanked FitFam, Operation HOPE, and Cesar Ornelas Injury Law.
Villalobos also asked the community for their help in sharing any information as to what happened that night.
Villalobos also talked about the type of person Olivas was, stating that towards the end of her life, she was “seeking God.”
“She was consistently going with us to church on Sundays. Every single Sunday and it really gives me a sense of relief that she started seeking God recently and I know she’s with him now but she was such a beautiful person,” Juan Villalobos said.
Olivas’ sister, Diana Villalobos, also thanked the community for their donations and talked about the consequences of drinking and driving.
“We know that this is not going to bring my sister back but we wanted to be as an example for people. The lives of two innocent people who had a life to still go on was taken without deserving it and it’s not fair for the person at fault to just receive a slap on the hand. We need more justice we need better laws and we hope this makes people conscious when they’re out there drinking and driving,” Diana Villalobos said.
