KTSM News – YISD named in Forbes’ list for America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024

Posted on August 20, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Forbes magazine’s website has named Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) to their list of America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024.

According to the news release by the district, America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024 report surveyed over 160,000 employees who work for companies that have at least 500 employees within the U.S.

Out of 4.4 million employee evaluations with companies from different industries, Forbes gathered the top 1,294 organizations and presented the list on their website here.

According to YISD’s profile on Forbes’ website, the district was number 229 out of the 1,294 organizations.

“The Ysleta Independent School District is honored to earn such a prestigious recognition from Forbes, and we are proud to offer a workplace environment where our 6,400 employees feel appreciated, respected, and inspired for the benefit of our students and families,” Ysleta ISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre said.

Data was gathered from three years prior to differentiate organizations who perform consistently vs. organizations who only had one good year, according to YISD.

The employer’s score was determined by state-by-state basis and by two types of employee evaluations, according to YISD:

Personal Evaluations

Employees’ willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.

Public Evaluations

Recommendations from friends and family members of employees or members of the public who work in the same industry, also known as indirect evaluations.

“Being named one of the best employers in Texas is a reflection of the strong community we’ve built together, one that is rooted in the dedication of staff, teachers, and administrators who work hard every day to provide a superb education to our students,” Dr. De La Torre said. “It is our privilege to celebrate them and the positive impact they have on our community.”
