EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — YWCA El Paso del Norte, YWCA USA and Ulta Beauty partnered together to help empower El Paso girls with resources for their futures.
The “Pretty Empowered” event took place on Saturday, Nov. 2 and hosted over 80 young girls ages 8 to 13 years old here in El Paso.
The goal of the event is to “emphasize the importance of self-care and confidence, the exploration of STEM fields and creating a positive sense of connection, aiming to inspire and prepare the next generation of leaders,” according to the news release by the YWCA.
The local YWCA CEO Sereka Barlow, leadership from Ulta and Lisa Bielamowicz from Marathon Petroleum were key speakers at the event.
The girls participated in cosmetic chemistry, supply chain logistics, business strategy and self-care skills with breakfast, lunch and snacks provided.
Ulta Beauty and the YWCA’s goal with Pretty Empowerment is to reach 800 participants nationwide, with El Paso being the only event in the Southwest region, according to the YWCA.
