My wife drove the family SUV into a barbecue joint last week. Don’t worry, the big garage doors were open on both ends of Thirsty’s BBQ Barn & Beer, in Clyde, just east of Abilene, where everyone uses the drive-through. An attendant takes orders from customers who remain in their seats while they pass through the red, metal building stocked with snacks; beer, wine, and other cold drinks; and just about every form of nicotine you can imagine. There’s also plenty of road-friendly barbecue options.The sign for Thirsty’s now reads BBQ Barn, but when owner Nasser “Nick” Saab first opened at exit 301 in 2013 it was Beer Barn.
