While South by Southwest plays host to creative talents from across the globe, the festival’s original Austin iteration still has some Texas spirit. This year’s film lineup includes actors, directors, and narratives from the Lone Star State.The Librarians (screening March 7, 8)This documentary follows the FReadom Fighters, a group of Texas librarians formed in 2021 in response to state Representative Matt Krause targeting 850 books in school libraries, as well as the broader issue of book censorship. Krause’s list includes books about students’ legal rights, novels featuring LGBTQ themes, and books explaining the Black Lives Matter movement. Director and producer Kim A. Snyder contrasts the traditional view of librarians as community servants with the militant rhetoric used against them by far-right white Christian nationalist groups.…
