Sandra Valls knew freshman didn’t get cast in the shows at the University of Texas. They did tech stuff, built sets, worked the lights—that kind thing. But that didn’t stop her from going to every single rehearsal. It was 1984 and the cast, under the direction of Ann Bergeron, was prepping for the premiere of Cabaret.
