Texas Monthly took home eight awards—more than any other publication—at the City and Regional Magazine Association conference in Denver last week, including Excellence in Writing and Designer of the Year.The magazine received the Excellence in Writing award for its May issue, which judges said was written “with clarity and artistry that can keep any reader engaged,” according to the press release. Sarah Hepola’s “What ‘Cheer’ Led To,” the cover story for the May issue, won a Profile award. The feature explored how the overnight fame created by the hit Netflix docuseries Cheer turned Coach Monica Aldama’s world upside down. Taco editor José R.
