Texas Monthly’s visual-media departments won five awards in the sixty-first annual Society of Publication Designers competition on Thursday, including a coveted gold medal for best of genre. The competition recognizes the best creative editorial content each year.Texas Monthly’s art department, led by creative director Emily Kimbro, took home the best of genre gold medal in the city/regional category. The team also received a silver medal in the feature photography category for noncelebrity profile shots (single/spread) for “Opal Lee Marches On,” which ran in the June 2025 issue.
