Bubs Swedish CandyGwen Welk Workman has sold Swedish candy for the past twenty years at her store called the Wooden Spoon, in Plano. In doing so, she’s helped the local Scandinavian community (yes, there is one, thanks to Swedish companies such as Assa Abloy Global Solutions and Ericsson having outposts nearby) continue the cultural tradition of eating “Saturday candy,” a practice linked to a 1950s dental-health recommendation to indulge in sweets only once per week. But one Saturday last April, a new kind of customer arrived: kids in search of Bubs, a TikTok-famous Swedish gummy brand. Workman had never heard of it, but before the day was over she had placed an order. By April 10, the sign in front of her store proclaimed “BUBS CANDY IS HERE.”…
