Texas Monthly – The Only American to Design Hermès Scarves Really Understood the Assignment

Kermit Oliver exhibit at The Bryan MuseumTaking in the Hermès scarves displayed in an upstairs gallery of Galveston’s Bryan Museum, it’s hard to say which is more astonishing: the natural realism bursting from these square silk fragments—the blazing plumage of a vermilion flycatcher, a coyote howling, the gaze of a ten-point buck—or the fact that the reclusive artist who designed them is a retired post office worker in Waco.
