A small army of rebels camped out for days near the Alamo, giving bellicose speeches and promising to topple tyrants. This was back in May, when the Texas GOP faithful had flocked to the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio for the party’s annual convention. The proximity to the state’s most sacred site gave the gathered Republicans ample opportunity to compare their cause to that of the Texians.
