When Hurricane Beryl hit the Gulf Coast last year, the Houston area was once again flooded. Pitmasters answered the call to feed those in need during the crisis. Operation BBQ Relief deployed its resources, Killen’s Barbecue offered sandwiches, and Space Craft BBQ & Taps gave away meals, water, and beer. Aaron Timmons and Ben Muths had just opened Space Craft in a trailer next to a gas station in Webster, half an hour south of the city, in February. After the hurricane, “we spent a week just giving away food to the community,” Muths said.
