The Cubs came into this offseason with an obvious need for more power in their lineup and if it came from the left side, that would be preferable. The most logical way to take care of that issue had always seemed to be re-signing Cody Bellinger. While he remains an option as his free agency drags out, team president Jed Hoyer surprised many with an aggressive trade Thursday for Los Angeles Dodgers infield prospect Michael Busch and reliever Yency Almonte.
In exchange, the Dodgers get Low-A pitcher Jackson Ferris, outfielder Zyhir Hope and some breathing room on a crowded 40-man roster.
