Breaking news: The Border Chronicle has limited-edition tote bags. That’s right, people. These are fair trade bags, sewn by the women’s cooperative DouglaPrieta Works in Agua Prieta, Sonora, and printed at Tucson’s very own Gloo Factory, which is a proud union printshop.
These bags are sturdy and won’t let you down. Haul your books, your fruits and veggies, or even your adobe bricks—hey, why not? We have about 30 of these righteous tote bags available in black or beige to anyone who becomes a founding member for just $150. You’ll also get two additional paid subscriptions along with your founding-member status. And you’ll get our undying gratitude for supporting independent journalism from the borderlands and beyond. We can’t do this without you!
Not quite ready to commit to founding-member status? We also have new bumper stickers and will send you a handful to share with friends and family. For just $60 a year, you’ll be supporting independent journalism. Slap some border pride on your ride, or how about our scorpion logo on your laptop? Could be cool, right?
Help us reach 1,000 paid subscribers.
We currently have more than 10,000 subscribers, but less than 10 percent of our readers and listeners are paid subscribers. Todd and I started The Border Chronicle in 2021 because we believed that the U.S.-Mexico border was lacking news coverage with context and analysis. In this presidential election year, when the border is constantly in the news, the coverage has only grown shallower, and disinformation is rampant. We’ve recently published articles on everything from right-wing influencers and Texas’s Operation Lone Star to oil billionaires bankrolling “border chaos” and humanitarians saving lives while being targeted by the Far Right. And there’s so much more to cover. We’ve recently begun publishing other journalists, including Pablo de la Rosa and Avery Schmitz, who covers extremism at the border. We’d like to feature more reporters at The Border Chronicle, but we need more paid subscribers to fund this work. So please consider supporting us today!
And thank you for reading and listening (we also have a podcast) to The Border Chronicle. We love this community and our conversations with you. Our recent discussion thread on the election was fascinating, and we look forward to doing more live events and discussion threads soon. We will keep you posted.
In the meantime, we’ll be unveiling a new binational investigation soon. Stay tuned!
