Posted on November 1, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — New Mexico State Police had recently disrupted drug, human, and arms trafficking networks during a nine-day operation this month along New Mexico’s southern border, according to New Mexico State Police.

From Oct. 16 through Oct. 26, the operation included “pinpointing high-crime areas, uncovering stash houses, intensifying patrols, and fostering community connections to dismantle organized criminal activities and enhance community safety, ultimately rescuing multiple trafficking victims,” State Police said.

The operation resulted in 297 migrants transferred to U.S. Border Patrol, 11 vehicles used in illegal transportation were seized and towed, and 13 stash houses were identified, seven individuals in distress were also rescued, according to State Police.

“The success of this operation was driven by NMSP’s proactive measures and collaboration with the U.S. Border Patrol, Organized Crime Commission, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, Sunland Park Police Department, Anthony Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Land Management, the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and El Paso Sheriff’s Office,” State Police said.
