KTSM News – Cannabis recalled over contamination concerns

Posted on November 27, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The New Mexico Cannabis Control Division (CCD) issued a consumer health and safety advisory after identifying contaminated cannabis pre-rolls and roll-your-own (RYO) products that tested positive for a prohibited pesticide, the New Mexico Regulations and Licensing Department (NMRLD) announced Wednesday, Nov. 27 in a news release.

The CCD oversees legal cannabis sales in New Mexico.

NMRLD said the affected products, which were manufactured and sold by JBS Technologies NM, LLC (DBA Stash House), were distributed to licensed cannabis retailers between Jan. 1 and Nov. 25.

NMRLD said businesses in Albuquerque, Ruidoso, Sunland Park, and Las Cruces received the affected products.

A full list of package IDs as well as a list of retail locations that received the products can be found below and on the CCD’s website.

NMRLD said the licensee was ordered to immediately remove any cannabis products linked to parent ID #2305513685689594 from the market.

The products were sold by the licensee to retailers under the following names:

Drool 2g Blunt—Nightmare Cookies

Drool 2g Blunt—Wedding Punch

Drool 2g Blunt—Rainbow Dream

Drool 2g Blunt—Blue Dream

Stone Road 14g RYO Forbidden Star Fruit

NMRLD said customers should review the product list to see if they purchased a contaminated product. If so, they are advised to destroy it or return it to the retailer for proper disposal.

“The CCD is committed to protecting public health and safety by ensuring that all cannabis products comply with state regulations. This advisory includes cannabis products that tested positive for spinosyn, a pesticide exceeding legal limits under 16.8.7.15 NMAC. Licensees must comply with the Pesticide Control Act, (Sections 76-4-1 et seq. NMSA 1978),” read the news release.

No health-related complaints have been reported to the CCD in connection to this recall. Anyone with health-related concerns should contact the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center at 1-800-222-1222 or consult their healthcare provider.

For non-health-related complaints, consumers may file a complaint with the CCD, including their contact information.
