EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved district staff’s proposed operational budget for the 2025-2026 school year and a new compensation package that will include pay raises for teachers and staff.
The vote was made at a special board meeting on Wednesday, June 18. However, trustees Daniel Call and Valerie Ganelon Beals were not present.
The board approved an operational budget of over $547 million with a budget deficit of just $6 million. District staff had previously projected a $17 million deficit for the upcoming school year.
Under the adopted budget, teacher pay will start at $58,500. Currently employed teachers and other staff under the teacher pay scale will see pay increases dependent on their experience.
Pay increases for employees on teacher pay:
- 0-2 years: $1,000
- 3-4 years: $2,500
- 5+ years: $5,000
All other district employees who are considered non-instructional will receive a 1.5 percent pay increase. The hourly pay rate will start at $13 per hour.
