EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A second suspect in a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young woman was arrested.
Elijah Sambrano was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, according to jail records.
Sambrano’s arrest is connected to the shooting that happened near Salopek Park on the 400 block of Salopek Boulevard in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Julia Clark, 19, was shot at least once and was taken to a hospital where she later died. A 19-year-old man who police have yet to identify was also shot. However his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Las Cruces police confirmed to KTSM that their second suspect was arrested. Sambrano was arrested for his involvement in the Salopek Park shooting, according to Las Cruces police spokesman Dan Trujillo.
Sambrano is facing charges of tampering with evidence and aggravated battery that may cause death or great bodily harm, according to jail records.
Apolinar Rosales, 18, was the first suspect police arrested on Saturday, Aug. 6. She is charged with felony counts of voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence, and a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing.
Sambrano is being held at the jail without bond.
