EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — If you missed the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque, no worries.
You can catch the 59th annual Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo, and it is much closer to home.
The annual event will be held Sept. 24-28 at the Dona Ana County Fairgrounds, 12 miles west of Las Cruces, at 12125 Robert Larson Blvd.

It will feature all the food, fun, rides, animals and entertainment you have come to expect from a fair experience.
Here are highlights of this year’s event, according to fair organizers:
- Frazier Shows Carnival provides thrilling rides all five days.
- Professional rodeo performances on Friday night, noon Saturday and Saturday night.
- Ranch rodeo performance on Thursday with a youth ranch rodeo on Sunday.
- Rick Trevino in concert Friday
- Randall King in concert Saturday
- Daily entertainment of the Thrill Extravaganza, Jump the Ultimate Dog Show, Joe Gandelman Ventriloquist and RhythmetriX percussion artists.
- Sip and Shop wine tasting Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the vendors in the Special Events Building
- Special events to include the annual Stick Horse Race and Model A Ford display on Saturday and a car show on Sunday.
- Youth livestock show Wednesday and Thursday with animals on exhibit all week.
- Local and regional musical performances on multiple stages every day.
Fair hours: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24; 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25; 9 a.m. to midnight, Friday, Sept. 26; 9 a.m. to midnight, Saturday, Sept. 27; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28.
Admission: Adults, $15; children 7-14, $10; 6 and under, free; $5 off all day Wednesday; $5 off until 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; discount tickets are not valid for entry Saturday, Sunday or after 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Fair exhibits, entertainment, rodeo and concerts are included in ticket price.
Ride ticket information: Tickets are valid all day, everyday. Each ride takes between four and seven tickets. Ticket prices: 1 ticket costs $1; 20 tickets cost $20; 40 tickets cost $35; and 100 tickets cost $75. Unlimited ride wristbands are valid during these hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday; 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday; and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
If bought in advance online, wristbands are $27. If you buy onsite they are $30.
