EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Nonprofit organization Mija, Yes You Can is celebrating five years of empowering women.
It will host its 5th annual Mija Market from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Cowtown Event Center, 11451 Gateway West.
The Mija Market is a free, family-friendly event featuring live entertainment, raffles, and activities for all ages. Everyone is welcome to attend.






At the heart of Mija’s mission, the Mija Market creates a space that uplifts local businesses and creatives while funding and expanding the nonprofit’s programs, the organizatoin said in a news release.
“Over the past five years, Mija, Yes You Can has grown from a small idea into a movement,” said Iris Lopez, executive director of Mija, Yes You Can. “I’m proud of the way it continues to create opportunities for local businesses, and even prouder of the doors it opens for young women in El Paso. This event is proof of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in its future.”
Two weeks ago, Mija, Yes You Can distributed $12,000 in scholarships to six women in El Paso, bringing the organization’s total scholarship contributions to over $70,000.
Mija, Yes You Can is partnering this year with Sun City Musical Arts, a local nonprofit that supports high-school students by expanding access to quality music education and opportunities. Limited-edition T-shirts will be sold at the market to help raise funds for their programs, which foster a love of music and build confidence and skills that benefit students in every part of life.
