Border Report – Decorative figurines used to smuggle $200K in cocaine

McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — Officers at a port of entry in Del Rio, Texas, say they confiscated $200,000 in cocaine smuggled in figurine objects.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say a 28-year-old man was sent to secondary inspection on Monday at the Del Rio International Bridge where officers discovered six packages of the drugs hidden within decorative obsidian figurines inside the car he was driving from Mexico.


Customs officers seize $130K in currency at El Paso port of entry

The total weight of cocaine confiscated was 15 pounds, officials said Friday.

“This significant narcotic seizure is a direct reflection of the dedication and vigilance of our officers,” said Del Rio Port Director Liliana Flores. “These types of seizures underscore CBP’s resolve to intercept dangerous narcotics and hold those who attempt to smuggle them accountable.”
