EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — With the worst of the winds behind us, we now shift our focus to this weekend and the following workweek.
Less active weather conditions are expected, other than for Tuesday, when stronger wind gusts return.
This weekend another storm system entering the region brings a slight chance for precipitation in the form of scattered rain showers. A high near 60 is expected with the chance of blowing dust in some areas in the afternoon. Winds will blow 20-25 mph, with gusts near 40 mph. Overnight wind speeds decrease, with gusts more or less the same. The low will be near 37.
Sunday will be much calmer. Light breezes will accompany a high around 66 and a low near 43.
Monday, St. Patrick’s Day will be very warm with the high near 80 and low around 53. Winds will blow 10-15 mph with gusts nearing 25 mph.
The relief from blowing dust does not last long, with stronger winds and gusts returning on Tuesday. The high will be near 80 again, with winds increasing to 35 mph in the afternoon and gusts around 50 mph. The low will be around 52.
A slight drop in temperatures comes on Wednesday, with the high near 65 and the low around 45. We warm right back up to average just in time for the official start of spring, with the high around 70 and the low near 45. A warmup trend begins afterward, with highs in the upper 70s through the weekend.
