EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Chapin High School boys basketball team’s season came to an end on Friday, Feb. 28 after falling to Birdville, 49-41, during the 5A regional finals of UIL playoffs.
The Huskies are knocked out of the elite eight for the third consecutive season.
Opening up the game, Chapin jumped to a quick 8-0 lead. Birdville responded with a 9-2 run to tie it at 12 at the close of one quarter of play. Headed into break, the Hawks took a two-point lead.
Later in the fourth, a shot by Savion Jordan would tie it 41-41. Birdville capped the night with a 8-0 run to secure its spot in the final four.
Team highs for the Huskies included Jayden Leverett with 18 points, followed by Jordan with 13.
Chapin collects its second loss of the year, closing out the 2024-2025 season with a 35-2 overall record.
