“We encourage our residential customers who live in areas prone to flooding to have sandbags on hand before a heavy rain event,” Gisela Dagnino, stormwater chief operations officer, said. “Our crews have filled more than 80,000 sandbags and it’s great to see our customers take advantage of this service.”
Customers will need to show a Texas ID or an El Paso Water bill to get sandbags, the limit is 10 bags per visit, the utility said.
The utility said each sandbag weighs more than 30 pounds, and people who cannot lift heavy items should be accompanied by someone who can assist with loading and unloading of the bags.
