EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Former New Mexico State basketball player Trevelin Queen had a breakout performance during the Boston Celtics-Orlando Magic game at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on Monday night.
Queen scored 17 points (5-9 FG, 3-4 3PT, 4-4 FT) during the Magic’s 108-104 win over the Boston Celtics—the reigning NBA champions—on Monday.
Queen also recorded one rebound, three assists, and one block, and three steals in 34 minutes played in the contest.
Queen played a huge role in the Magic’s double-digit comeback victory over the Celtics on Monday night.
Having the outing he had, and having it against the Celtics in his first career NBA start, was a moment Queen will never forget.
“I could not stop smiling. I am not going to lie to you,” Queen said postgame on Monday. “My first career NBA start, Five years in the G League. It’s a blessing to have this opportunity, especially against the Celtics. That is my childhood team. I grew up a Celtics fan so just being out there, playing against them was a surreal moment for me.”
This was just Queen’s fifth appearance at the NBA level of the 2024-25 season. Monday’s game also marked his first start of his NBA career. Queen is on a two-way deal with the Magic, playing games for the NBA squad and for the organization’s G-League team.
Queen and the Magic are back in action on Thursday when they take on the Miami Heat at the Kia Center.
