EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Las Cruces Police Department will hold a news conference Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, to provide an update on the fatal officer-involved shooting that happened outside a Chili’s last week in Las Cruces.
The news conference will start at 11 a.m. and will be held at Las Cruces City Hall. Police Chief Jeremy Story will be providing the update.
As KTSM 9 News previously reported, the suspect in the officer-involved shooting died after he was shot outside a Chili’s Restaurant on 426 S Telshor.
Preliminary information indicates that the first-arriving officer to the scene made contact with the man, who has been identified as Philip Adrian Mullin, 50, in the parking lot of the Chili’s.
Police say the officer perceived a threat from Mullin and discharged at least one round from his weapon and struck Mullin, who died at the scene.
The officer who shot Mullin was not injured and was not identified by police. The officer was placed on standard administrative leave pending further investigation.
