EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) El Paso has released a list of road closures for the week of Feb. 28, that could affect your commute, including a 49-hour closure this weekend on Interstate 10 West.
I-10 Widening West
49-hour closure
Saturday, March 1 at 4 a.m., through Monday, March 3 at 5 a.m.
- I-10 East will be closed at Vinton Road.
- DETOUR: Take Exit 2 (Spur 37/Vinton Road/Westway Drive), turn right on Vinton Road, left on Doniphan, left on Talbot Avenue, right on South Desert, and re-enter I-10 East past Artcraft.
- I-10 West closed at Transmountain Road.
- DETOUR: Take Exit 6B (Loop 375/Transmountain Road), continue on North Desert, and re-enter I-10 West past Vinton Road.
- South Desert Boulevard will be closed at Los Mochis Drive.
Crews will be opening the I-10 main lanes.
Monday, March 3, starting at 9 a.m. until further notice
- The North Mesa entrance ramp to I-10 East will close
- DETOUR: traffic will stay on the collector-distributor lanes until past Sunland Park Drive.
Monday, March 3, through Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- I-10 East and West will be alternatingly reduced to one lane between Vinton Road and Transmountain Road.
Crews will be working on the retaining wall and conducting earthwork.
Monday, March 3, through Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- I-10 East and West will be alternatingly reduced to one lane between Mesa Street and Redd Road.
Crews will be conducting earthwork.
Monday, March 3, through Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Redd Road East and West will be alternatingly reduced to one lane at South Desert Boulevard and North Desert Boulevard.
Crews will be conducting electrical work.
Beginning on Monday, March 3, the following permanent changes will be in place:
- I-10 East and West main lanes will open at Los Mochis Drive.
- North Desert Boulevard will re-open at Enchanted Hills Drive.
- New permanent exit ramp from I-10 East to Transmountain Road will open.
- New permanent entrance ramp from Transmountain Road to I-10 West will open
- Temporary entrance and exit ramps in the area will close.


I-10 Widening West 2
Sunday, March 2 through Thursday, March 6, nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Complete Closure on I-10 West from David Road to Anthony
- DETOUR: Traffic will exit at Transmountain, remain on South Desert Boulevard through the Transmountain Road, Vinton Road, and Antonio Street Intersections and enter I-10 West at Anthony.
Crews will be performing dirt work and removing miscellaneous materials
Alternating Lane Closures
Monday, March 3 through Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
- Alternating lane closures on I-10 East and I-10 West from Anthony, Texas to Nashua Road
- Alternating lane closures on North Desert Boulevard and South Desert Boulevard from Anthony, Texas to Nashua Road
Crews will be performing dirt work and removing miscellaneous materials
Long Term Closure
Through Spring 2026
- Complete closure at Valley Chile Road Turnaround
- DETOUR: Continue on frontage to next exit and make a U-turn.
Crews will be reconstructing and widening the bridge at Valle Chile Road.

- Spur 601 westbound at Railroad exit left lane and turnaround from west to east closed
- Loop 375 westbound between Midway and Yarbrough right lane closed
Tuesday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- I-10 westbound between Sunland Park and Resler right lane closed
- I-10 westbound between Piedras and Cotton right lane closed
Wednesday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Loop 375 westbound between Resler and Desert North right lane closed
- Desert North between David and Vinton right lane closed
Thursday, March 6
- Loop 375 westbound between Main Gap and Plexxar left lane closed
- Loop 375 eastbound between Resler and Paseo del Norte shoulder closed
Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Wyoming eastbound between El Paso to Kansas center lane and on-ramp closed at Wyoming
- Kansas southbound between Montana and Wyoming left lane closed
Crews will be working on guardrail.
Spall Repair Project
Monday, March 3 through Tuesday, March 4, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly
- SH-178 (Artcraft) southbound between I-10 and Doniphan right two lanes closed
Crews will be working on spall repairs.
Maintenance
Sunday, March 2 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- US 54 South CD lanes between Montana and I-10 closed.
- Trowbridge entrance ramp to US-54 south closed
- Boone and Yandell complete closure
- Copia exit closed
Crews will be working on bridge armor joints.
Sunday, March 2 through Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Gateway North between Pershing and Cassidy left lane closed
Crews will be working on erosions.
- US 54 north- and southbound between Transmountain and Diana alternate lane closures
- US 54 southbound between Sun Valley and Transmountain entrance ramps and Diana exit ramp closed
- US 54 northbound at Hondo Pass entrance ramp, Diana entrance ramp, and Sun Valley exit closed
- US 54 South between Ellerthorpe and Broaddus two left lanes closed
- Ellerthorpe entrance ramp to US-54 South closed
Crews will be working on spalls and bridge joints.
- Copia (Spur 478) north- and southbound between Montana and Missouri left lane closed
Crews will be installing delineators.
Montana Widening Project
Monday, March 3 to Wednesday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Montana Avenue westbound frontage road alternate lane closures between 11701 Montana Avenue (Armed Forces Reserve Center) and George Dieter Drive
Crews will be working on stripping.
Tuesday, March 4 to Friday, March 7, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly
- Full closure Montana Avenue eastbound frontage road from George Dieter Drive to Saul Kleinfeld Drive
Crews will be working on traffic switch.
Purple Heart 375 Widening Project
Saturday, March 1 to Monday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
- Purple Heart Highway (Loop 375) north- and southbound alternate lane closures between Montana Avenue and Iron Medics Drive
Crews will be paving and boring in median.
Continuous closure until further notice
- Purple Heart Highway north and southbound shoulder closures from Montana Avenue to Spur 601
Crews will be widening main lanes and constructing north and southbound frontage road.
Horizon/Darrington Reconstruction Project

- Darrington Road northbound will be closed at Roslyn Drive
Crews will be installing new lateral utilities at Roslyn Drive, including inlets, storm drain, sewer and water laterals.
Until May 2025
- Horizon Boulevard (FM1281) eastbound complete closure between Horizon Crossing to Breaux Street.
Crews will be working on final subgrade, pavement operations and excavating ponding areas.
Until December 2025
- Darrington Road southbound lanes will become two lanes two-way traffic.
- Pete La Rue Circle will follow detour entrance at Roslyn Drive and Exit Jasper Drive.
Crews will be working on final subgrade, pavement operations and milling.
Loop 375 Mill and Inlay Project
Monday, March 3 to Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
- Joe Battle Boulevard (frontage road) north- and southbound alternate lane closures between Pellicano Drive and Montana Avenue
Crews will be installing traffic signals.
I-10 Landscape & Aesthetic Project
Monday, March 3 to Friday, March 7, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily
- I-10 east- and westbound right lane and shoulder closure at Lee Trevino.
- Gateway East Boulevard right lane closure between Tower Trail Lane and Zaragoza Road
- I-10 Westbound between Yarbrough Exit Ramp and Yarbrough Entrance Ramp right lane and shoulder closure.
- I-10 Westbound between Zaragoza Exit Ramp and Zaragoza Entrance Ramp right shoulder closure.
- Gateway East Boulevard left lane closure between Zaragoza Road and Zaragoza Entrance Ramp.
- I-10 Westbound between Yarbrough Entrance Ramp and McRae Exit Ramp right shoulder closure.
- I-10 Westbound McRae Exit Ramp complete closure.
- Gateway West Boulevard left lane closure between Sumac Drive and McRae Exit Ramp.
Crews will be painting concrete riprap, boring conduit & placing electrical pole, landscaping, and placing concrete riprap.
