KTSM News – ‘Veterans Day’ holiday closures 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – In observance of Veterans Day, which falls on Monday, Nov. 11, some services/offices will be closed across the Borderland.

City of Las Cruces

City offices and facilities closed include:

A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven

City Hall

Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices)

East Mesa Recreation Center

Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center

Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center

Las Cruces Museum System, including Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science and the Railroad Museum

Las Cruces Public Libraries, including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and the branch library at Sage Café

Meerscheidt Recreation Center

Rio Grande Theatre

All Senior Programs facilities and services

South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices

Operating or open with hours include:

Solid waste collection will occur for residential and commercial customers who are scheduled for that service on Monday, November 11. The Foothills Landfill, 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, will operate at its regular hours.

RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-A-Ride will operate with its usual hours. All City transit facilities will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. 

The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., the Corralitos Landfill, and county collection sites will be open with regular service hours. Scheduled curbside collection services will run as normal.

Las Cruces Natatorium Open 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Regional Aquatic Center Open 7:30 a.m. to noon. (Upstairs Fitness Area only, Pool closed for resurfacing).

In addition, all emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.

Socorro Independent School District

The Socorro Independent School District will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Classes will resume, and offices will re-open on Tuesday, Nov. 12. In case of an emergency, contact SISD Police Services Dispatch at 915-937-4357.

El Paso County

In observance of Veterans Day, all El Paso County Administrative Offices will be closed
Monday, Nov. 11. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, Nov. 12.

El Paso County Commissioners Court will not meet on Monday and will resume County business the following week at their regular session meeting at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

Ascarate Golf Course – 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All County Parks – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

El Paso Community College

EPCC will not hold classes or offer services on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. However, online registration is available on the Self-Service Banner.

Classes and services will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
