EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Phoebe Copas, the woman accused of shooting and killing Uber driver Daniel Piedra Garcia last year, fainted in court on Monday morning, Dec. 9, during the first day of jury trial selection.
The first day of jury selection was scheduled for Monday, but has now been scheduled for April 28, after Copas’ medical emergency.
As we have previously reported, Copas is facing a charge of murder. She has claimed Piedra Garcia was kidnapping her and taking her to Mexico on June 16, 2023, as he drove the assigned Uber route on U.S. 54 near Loop 375 while driving her to Speaking Rock Casino.
